Project Overview
The Independent Teacher Platform is an education technology solution designed for independent and all teachers, tutors and educators who need a professional digital workspace to manage their teaching activities.
The platform brings together student management, class organization, assessments, academic reporting, schemes of work, lesson planning and teaching resources within one centralized system.
Unlike traditional school management systems that are mainly designed for entire institutions, this platform focuses on the day-to-day operational needs of individual teachers and tutors who may independently manage their own learners, classes, assessments, teaching resources and educational services.
Key capabilities include:
• Teacher account registration and secure authentication
• Class creation and management
• Student enrollment and student record management
• Class-list organization
• Independent assessment and marklist workspace
• Full-class mark entry and result preparation
• Automatic grading using selected grading schemes
• Flexible curriculum and grading support
• CBC/CBE-oriented assessment support
• Student performance analysis
• Comparison of current and previous assessment performance
• Full-class marklist generation
• Individual student result slips
• Printable and downloadable academic reports
• Creation and management of structured schemes of work
• Automatic week and lesson structure generation for schemes of work
• Support for schemes across different curricula
• Optional CBC/CBE-specific fields when required
• Connected schemes-of-work and lesson-plan workflow
• Ability to convert individual scheme lesson rows into lesson plans
• Reuse of strand, learning outcomes, activities, resources and assessment information when creating lesson plans
• Lesson plan creation and management
• Teaching-resource library
• Access to organized teaching resources and reference materials
• Structured teacher dashboard
• Profile and account settings
• Support for future scheduling features
• Preparation for paid courses, bookings and online teaching
• Responsive design for desktop, tablet and mobile devices
A major feature of the platform is the independent assessment and marklist workspace. Teachers can create assessment records for their classes, select or configure an appropriate grading scheme, enter marks for the entire class and allow the system to automatically process grades and performance information.
The platform is designed to support multiple curricula and grading structures rather than restricting teachers to a single assessment model. This gives educators flexibility when working with different classes, subjects and learning systems.
Another important component is the Schemes of Work module. Teachers can create a structured scheme for a curriculum and allow the system to organize the teaching period into weeks and lessons. CBC/CBE-specific fields can be enabled when required, making the module flexible for different teaching approaches.
The schemes and lesson plans are connected as part of one workflow. A lesson row within a scheme of work can be converted into a lesson plan without requiring the teacher to re-enter information such as the strand, learning outcomes, learning activities, teaching resources or assessment details. This reduces repetitive preparation work and helps maintain consistency between long-term planning and individual lesson delivery.
The Lesson Plans section provides teachers with a dedicated workspace for preparing and managing their lesson-level teaching plans, while the Resource Library provides a centralized area for teaching materials and supporting resources.
Together, the Schemes of Work, Lesson Plans and Resource Library modules extend the platform beyond student and result management into a broader professional teaching workspace.
The platform is also being designed with future expansion in mind, including scheduling, paid learning programs, teacher bookings and online/live teaching. These additions are intended to help independent educators manage both their academic work and the business side of their teaching services from one platform.
The project demonstrates educational data management, curriculum-aware teaching workflows, assessment automation, PDF reporting, role-based access control, database architecture and responsive user-interface development.
